Honoring those who nurture this Mother's Day

This Mother's Day we asked Jeannie Pearce, mother of proprietor, Chelsea Pearce to write about the birth of Moon+Arrow from her perspective as a mother, teacher, caregiver and nurturer.

"I am so fortunate to have watched the amazing growth and exciting changes of Moon and Arrow, even before the store opened 12 years ago. Chelsea has been working on and fine-tuning her skills and creative ideas since she was a child. She has always had a passion for art, inventive fashion, and sustainability. As her mom, I have been continually awed by her creativity and courage in taking a different path with education, and growing and using that developed strength to start a meaningful career and business.

As a teenager, Chelsea started working at a summer job at Thrift for Aids and a natural foods store. She attended a high school that was a working organic farm, and after graduation, she traveled to Europe and WOOFed (Willing Workers on Organic Farms) her way through Italy. College followed, with traditional academic requirements and a love for jewelry and ceramics that took her back to Europe to hone new skills and life experiences. All of these pieces—her history, travel, education, extended learning, jobs, friendships, and family with 2 beautiful children—created a really brave, inventive, and resourceful individual.

I am so proud of Chelsea and all that she has accomplished with Moon and Arrow. She has created a beautiful and inspiring space that celebrates creativity, sustainability, and community. I am so excited to see what she does next!"
