Mind Flow Macramé
In this workshop led by Angela Boltz, we will explore macramé, the soothing ancient textile art of decorative knotting, as a means of living more mindfully . Mindfulness, at it’s core, is a technique in developing our capacity to be present moment-to-moment, ultimately leading to a state of complete absorption in the here-and-now, a feeling of energized focus, and genuine fulfillment in the task at hand. It’s a invaluable tool for approaching our lives with a quality of attention, spaciousness, and ease.
Class will begin with a light discussion on mindfulness fundamentals and some gentle, centering breathwork. Participants will then learn the history of macramé, practice 3 basic knot formations, and start a project of their own. Our evening will be a healthy balance of instruction and fun, with periods of silence for students to sink into the creative "flow" of rhythmic, repetitive hand motions so the mind can unwind.
Everyone will leave with a beautiful handmade plant-holder, along with the knowledge to use as a springboard for further creative play and mindful exploration.
